Tools for improving the quality of life as we grow older — shared by the Tech-enhanced Life community.

Summary

The mission of the International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing is to connect and support care and service providers worldwide to enhance quality of life for ageing. IAHSA represents the interests of its members and promotes the association’s goals through education, leadership, and research. Our members include representatives from ageing services industries, governments, ministries of health, voluntary organizations, nongovernmental organizations, businesses, academics, and architects that specialize in design for ageing.

Our Goals

  • To promote quality services for the ageing
  • To connect researchers and providers through applied research
  • To provide a forum for professional networking and an exchange of information for all persons interested in ageing, care of the ageing, facility design and accessibility for the ageing
  • To promote and provide education and training on global issues pertaining to ageing
  • To disseminate pertinent and timely information regarding ageing issues

How we started

IAHSA was founded in 1994 by an international group of leaders who realized that the global ageing crisis would have a profound impact on our earth's elders. Their vision was to create a platform for policymakers, researchers, business and ageing services providers to collectively share their knowledge and best practices to enhance quality of care for the elderly. Over the years IAHSA has created an international forum for the exchange of research, services, products and training that make up the Global Ageing Network.

Tech-enhanced Life Resource Database

This is one of hundreds of products and resources in the Tech-enhanced Life database of "useful products and resources".

The theme of this collection of resources is "tools we can use to help improve our quality of life as we grow older".

We have no vested interest in any of these products or services, but we have collected descriptions of them, and organized them according to various themes relating to the challenges of aging — so older adults and their families can find useful products they do not yet know about.

Members of Tech-enhanced Life can search by categories, add reviews of the products, and see links to the manufacturer's websites where they can buy the products.

Note: If you want to support our work, please use these links when you buy any of the products we write about, as we sometimes get a small percentage of the sale from the manufacturer, which we use to support our research. (This does not effect the price you pay).

This organization is for those who design build, or purchase buildings for the aging.  For others there are nice pictures of rooms and buildings, but not much more.
