My Background:

After a career where I worked in libraries located in Stavanger, Norway, Houston, Moscow, Moraga and San Francisco, I am now retired and as ever still tuned into information search and retrieval. Besides subscribing to curated news sources like the NYT, WP and WSJ. In my recent travels, I have enjoyed comparing European internet privacy regulations with those in the US. Open a web page in Germany and a slew of access choices appear. In the US, searching for opt out info is obscure and obfuscated. 

The dynamics of the computer world have become much more specialized and personalized. In that regard, I enjoy checking out new gadgets and exploring security and personalized features of Apple computers and devices. My kids, now living within a 5,000 mile range, seem always willing to offer insights and updates as well as reminders that in fact I do not need to forward them yet another "relevant" article.
