The SRC discussion circle brought a wide variety of devices from the mundane to the unexpected, including:
- Levered jar wrenches
- Standard can openers
- Rubber gloves
- Various strap-type jar wrenches
- Sliding, toothed, cap-grasping tools
- "Just hitting it on the floor"
- An oil filter wrench from the automotive tool box

Some of the popular Jar Opener designs (and where to buy them)
Note: We have no financial interest in these products.
1. Oxo Good Grips Jar Opener
This was a popular design in the discussion.
2. Swing-a-Way Comfort grip Jar Opener
This was a simple but effective opener. Very similar openers were shown by several participants, and got positive comments.
3. Kitchen Kahuna Silicone Easy Jar Opener
This one was also positively regarded.
4. Grip Wrench
This item attracted perhaps the most interest from the group. The Grip Wrench demonstrated was an older model and not the same brand as the picture below. But this is an example of the sort of thing John was describing.
5. Lots more jar openers on Amazon
There are a lot more of these types of products to be seen on Amazon. You can view the full selection on Amazon here.
