Tools for improving the quality of life as we grow older — shared by the Tech-enhanced Life community.

This website is a directory of US Co-housing developments.

Co-housing is a housing design concept that originated in europe in which separate, private living quarters are clustered around common areas such as play yards or shared kitchen facilities. The open design promotes the social integrity of the community while protecting the privacy of the individual or family unit. Visit the website to search for cohousing in your area.

From the website: "Cohousing opens up new alternatives for seniors to take control of the inevitable, to live as independently as possible, as long as possible. Cohousing sets seniors up for success and helps them achieve their full potential in the last 20-30 years of life. Cohousing living arrangements support individual’s well-being physically, socially, and emotionally, and offers aging adults a way to live among people with whom they share a common bond of age and experience—an entirely new way to house themselves with dignity, independence, safety, mutual concern, and fun."

Tech-enhanced Life Resource Database

This is one of hundreds of products and resources in the Tech-enhanced Life database of "useful products and resources".

The theme of this collection of resources is "tools we can use to help improve our quality of life as we grow older".

We have no vested interest in any of these products or services, but we have collected descriptions of them, and organized them according to various themes relating to the challenges of aging — so older adults and their families can find useful products they do not yet know about.

Members of Tech-enhanced Life can search by categories, add reviews of the products, and see links to the manufacturer's websites where they can buy the product or access the resource.

The criteria for adding products and resources to this database is that we think they "look useful, noteworthy, and interesting", and have the potential to improve life for older adults and their families. We have evaluated some of these products, in which case you will see links to a detailed review and or to explorer discussions about the product on this page, or inputs from explorers in the comments.

If the listing does not include reviews or explorer discussions, then we have not evaluated it sufficiently to be able to recommend it or comment on how well it works. If you research this product or resource further, and especially if you try it out, please come back to this page and add your comments.

* Full Disclosure: In some cases, the links that take you away from our website to the website of the "company" may be "affiliate links".
