Volaris - a great looking walker

Volaris - a great looking walker

From the Tech-enhanced Life Resource Database:

Tools for improving the quality of life as we grow older — shared by the Tech-enhanced Life community.

The Volaris S7 SMART  rollator is a classy-looking, top-quality rollator (or walker).  Looks suitable for "all terrain" use cases. Sold by X-L-Ent Care Products (and some other retailers). Made in Sweden by Eurovema. Available on Amazon.

From the website: "The Volaris Rollators were stylishly designed in Sweden for seniors and physically challenged persons, however, it is the quality that will be very evident to you.  We don't carry dozens of makes, only one line of rollator walkers -THE BEST.  The Volaris is a light weight rollator but rugged for all uses."

It even works outdoors on uneven surfaces or up and down hills.  The frame bends and twists with the surface as if it has 4-wheel independent suspenction.

Volaris now has a new model (2016) with 10 inch wheels, and a slightly wider seat. Look for "Volaris All-Terrain Smart PATROL (WIDE)". I haven't actually had a chance to try one as I find I need 'gutter arms' aka arm platforms to walk well and they don't offer that feature in this model. And, nobody carries these in my county. But, the larger 10 inch wheels should make the unit more terrain-friendly. And I believe the seat actually adjusts up and down, which is unusual in any rollator. So, it's worth a look to see if it will suit your requirements.

One of our explorers sent in this comment (by email):

I bought a Volaris Rollator and it works for me. The unit can be raised high enough to allow walking erect, the seat is somewhat adjustable. It was shipped assembled and easy to unpack. A bit more to-do with the add-on basket, due to my inept fingers. I like it and has enabled me to widen my walking and helps on carrying groceries home.

I rarely see discussions or specifications for rollators on, for instance, Amazon, that clearly consider seat height. I am walking better now, but I can’t get up from a seat lower than 24”, so use my rollator partly to make sure I can sit when I need to. I have back pain when I stand or walk for more than a short period. Most of the devices you discuss, and almost all rollators on the market, at too low and the seats are not adjustable. My Nova Zoom is a rare exception. I have also retrofitted other walkers with all terrain wheels and brakes. Still looking for a good off-road option. Considering the Alinker, which is new, expensive, but very interesting.

I would like to be part of this investigation, but don’t understand how to get involved in the research work.

Tech-enhanced Life Resource Database

This is one of hundreds of products and resources in the Tech-enhanced Life database of "useful products and resources".

The theme of this collection of resources is "tools we can use to help improve our quality of life as we grow older".

We have no vested interest in any of these products or services, but we have collected descriptions of them, and organized them according to various themes relating to the challenges of aging — so older adults and their families can find useful products they do not yet know about.

Members of Tech-enhanced Life can search by categories, add reviews of the products, and see links to the manufacturer's websites where they can buy the product or access the resource.

The criteria for adding products and resources to this database is that we think they "look useful, noteworthy, and interesting", and have the potential to improve life for older adults and their families. We have evaluated some of these products, in which case you will see links to a detailed review and or to explorer discussions about the product on this page, or inputs from explorers in the comments.

If the listing does not include reviews or explorer discussions, then we have not evaluated it sufficiently to be able to recommend it or comment on how well it works. If you research this product or resource further, and especially if you try it out, please come back to this page and add your comments.
