Summary

BeHear is a range of wearable Bluetooth hearing amplifiers designed for people with mild to moderate hearing loss. A key feature is that you can adjust the sound to match a particular hearing profile.

The products include the BeHear Access, and BeHear Proxy, each designed for slightly different use cases. The product used by the explorer who brought this to our attention is the BeHear Proxy, which is illustrated and linked to above. Explorer Pete uses it for watching TV.

Whereas the BeHear Access relies on earbuds, the BeHear Proxy includes a neck-mounted speaker / microphone combination as well as an earbud, and you can use either.

The BeHear products are sold by WearandHear.com and both BeHear and WearandHear are brands of the company Alango.

How the company describes the product:

BeHear PROXY is a unique combination of a wireless neck speaker, microphone, and personal hearing amplifier, powered by Alango’s advanced audio technology.

BeHear ACCESS is a stylish hearing amplifier for people who need enhanced hearing in specific situations. It looks (and functions) like a typical Bluetooth® stereo headset but also provides enhancement for all around hearing (live conversations, mobile phone calls, music play, ambient hearing), as well as assistive listening functionality.

Tech-enhanced Life Resource Database

This is one of hundreds of products and resources in the Tech-enhanced Life database of "useful products and resources".

The theme of this collection of resources is "tools we can use to help improve our quality of life as we grow older".

We have no vested interest in any of these products or services, but we have collected descriptions of them, and organized them according to various themes relating to the challenges of aging — so older adults and their families can find useful products they do not yet know about.

Members of Tech-enhanced Life can search by categories, add reviews of the products, and see links to the manufacturer's websites where they can buy the product or access the resource.

The criteria for adding products and resources to this database is that we think they "look useful, noteworthy, and interesting", and have the potential to improve life for older adults and their families. We have evaluated some of these products, in which case you will see links to a detailed review and or to explorer discussions about the product on this page, or inputs from explorers in the comments.

If the listing does not include reviews or explorer discussions, then we have not evaluated it sufficiently to be able to recommend it or comment on how well it works. If you research this product or resource further, and especially if you try it out, please come back to this page and add your comments.

* Full Disclosure: In some cases, the links that take you away from our website to the website of the "company" may be "affiliate links".
