"A Big Decision" by Longevity Explorers: Recent @ Providence

The Providence Explorers Circle is examining housing alternatives for aging adults in the months of September and October.  We found a New York Times article to be a useful framework for that discussion.

In “A Big Decision” (9/1/18) Steve Johnson draws upon to “decision science,” and suggests that when making a big decision, one consider all alternatives and imagine a range of scenarios.  He suggests thinking of one scenario in which things get better, one in which they get worse, and one in which they get "weird." One might also do a “pre-mortem [and] imagine that it is months into the future and the plan has been carried out. And it has failed.”  Why?

This article provides a provocative framework for considering the “big decision” of changing living arrangements as one grows older.
