Analyst Summary: LogicMark | Freedom Alert
This product is an example of a PERS that contacts family or friends directly when you push the alert button, or calls 911. It does not go to a 24/7 monitoring center, and thus it comes with no monthly fee.
The product is made by LogicMark (a wholesaler of a number of PERS products). LogicMark recommended purchasing this product through EmoryDay but we found it for a lower price on Amazon, and that is the link we include in the heading section of this page.
This product is not cheap ($249 at EmoryDay or $198 on Amazon on 11/5/15) but has no ongoing monthly fee, which is a big issue for some consumers.
The way this product works is that you can program in up to four phone numbers, including 911 if you wish. When you press the emergency button, the system dials them in sequence. If noone answers at the first number, it goes on to call the second number and so on. You can set it up so it just calls 911 directly without first calling your friends or family.
At home, voice in pendant
This product is NOT a "go anywhere" system. It needs to be within 600 ft of the base station that sits at some central spot in your home and connects to the phone line.
Unlike many competitors, this product has a 2 way voice capability in the pendant. So when you press the alert button, it calls your responder and the responder talks back to you through the pendant and not through the base station.
The system claims to work with VoIP phone lines as well as conventional plain old phone lines.
The pendant includes a battery but battery life is apparently 2-3 months, so battery management is less painful than the go anywhere products, which mostly need daily recharging.
How waterproof?
Competitors say this product is not properly waterproof, due to the need for sound to enter and leave the pendant so it can do its job of voice through pendant interaction. This needs further research. We have not tested this yet.

Could not get the Freedom Alert system to dial numbers on our VoIP line. Seems like Logic Mark could resolve this issue with the popularity of VoIP phone service.....
