Thanks faengelm and I can see how your solution works effectively in this specific instance and in conjunction with a conventional. However, this type of solution would not work with a uPVC multipoint type of door, which are very common in the UK.

My hope is that anyone wishing to use a more advanced multipoint smart lock, such as the Yale Conexis L1 Smart Door Lock, should think carefully about using such a lock if there is no other point of entry that can be used in an emergency.

The risk related specifically to rare instances where a mechanical failure occurs. Battery power failures are covered because the Yale locks can be powered externally via a 5V battery.
